Can we turn back the hands of time?

Footfalls echo in the memory
Down the passage which we did not take
Towards the door we never opened

~T.S. Eliot

An innocuos hand on my shoulder
Made an attempt not to fall for that echo;
The door is still ajar,
looking at me,
expects me to cross its way,
the path is not easy,
but still,
I walk on.

You Can - The effort required might be more - but you can correct all the wrongs... definitely.... Just decide to do it...

YOU HAVE BEEN TAGGED!

You can. Take this from an incurable optimist...

But we don't take the risk, fearing what it would cost us in the long run. I regret that I didn't... And one effort, you take, You'll be glad about that for your life time. Good luck chechi!!!!

Maybe not ...
Nothing is as sad as wanting to turn back
The hands of time.
But...
Perhaps the door will
Welcome a gentle knock still?
At worst we'll know that we did try.
We might just find there's no need to turn back the hands of time
This time is just fine :)

Hi Avanish: Very apt. Thank you!

Hi Just Someone: But doesn't your heart get in the way sometimes? You may want to turn back the hands of time, but you also know that it may not make you so happy. Whats one to do then?

Hey IHM: Thanks! Thats gonna be my next post.

Hey Barath: Yes. It is fear. Perhaps fear that turning back the hands of time will bring others happiness and not you.

Hey IHM: Yes. I agree. Perhaps the gentle knock is what I am waiting for.

Hi RM: I have tried. Even though the unopened door wasn't going to bring me happiness, the fact that it remains unopened has made me wonder "if"...

You know the answer - even the unopened door want going to bring you happiness. Though it might seem different now, only your happiness would bring happiness to the ones around you.
Follow your heart.

Thanks for sharing the beautiful lines. I read the whole poem later. I think the answer to your question is within the poem itself in these lines:

"Time past and time future
What might have been and what has been
Point to one end, which is always present."

Hi as I said the wrongs can be corrected - I guess emotions got in the way of your heart - emotion is just an agitation of feelings and of no value.
.....it may not make you so happy - It may also..

After reading ur post I just could not resist from those words and just wanted u 2 share my thoughts with mine. This poem was written by me and posted on my blog earlier.
EPITAPH:
Sun, stars and moon,
Wind rain and darkness
In the world of lonely confinement, and
The nature around
Shares the warmth
Of their body
And transforms my mind
A storehouse
Of unbound happiness.
Caressing,love, music and kisses
Are the primary assets of life.
Mother, friend, mate and guide,A tender touch curtains my sorrow, And a mate to share my thoughts,
A guide thro'
The narrow path
In darkness
Thro' the Garden of Eden,
There inscribed my 'EPITAPH'.

(Maybe the historians will live through it better)

Good luck and god bless-regards
